SQL Server 2016 CTP 3.1

The new SQL Server 2016 Community Technical Preview 3.1 has just been released. Below is a brief overview of some of the great improvements:

Analysis Services
– Upgrade a Tabular model to compatibility level 1200
– JSON Syntax colouring and validation for the model editor
– Roles for Tabular models

Reporting Services
– SharePoint mode is supported (SharePoint 2016 Beta 2)

Database Engine
– Stretch databases is now supported by AlwaysOn
